Maya MacGuineas Discusses 2026 Midterms on Bloomberg TV
Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget president Maya MacGuineas joined Bloomberg TV's "Bloomberg Businessweek" with hosts Carol Massar and Tim Stenovec to discuss the fiscal implications of the 2026 midterm elections.
The discussion included the lack of focus among lawmakers on the nation's fiscal health in the run-up to the elections, despite evidence showing deficit reduction is key to the affordability issue central to voters. It also noted the need for tough tradeoffs to stabilize the debt, aiming for realistic long-term policy goals (such as 3% of GDP deficits), and need for a bipartisan fiscal commission to tackle the politically difficult choices our elected officials will need to make.
