Maya MacGuineas Joins PBS's "Amanpour & Company"
Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget president Maya MacGuineas recently joined Walter Isaacson on PBS's "Amanpour and Company" to discuss America's debt problem, including the recent milestone of U.S. debt reaching 100% of GDP, soaring interest costs, and increased volatility in the bond markets. MacGuineas pointed to the lack of action on the part of policymakers to undertake the necessary steps to curtail rising debt and explained the fiscal and economic consequences of that inaction. She also discussed the need to address all parts of the budget, including fixing the trust funds (including Social Security) and identifying new areas for spending cuts and revenue increases.
