Statement on the Passing of Alice Rivlin

For Immediate Release

The following is a statement from the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget on the passing of Alice Rivlin:

We were just one of the many organizations lucky enough to have Alice Rivlin as part of our world through her leadership on our Board of Directors. We are deeply saddened at her passing and forever grateful for her contributions and friendship.

Alice Rivlin was truly one of a kind and one of the greatest public servants this country has ever had. She was a leader, a problem solver, and an inspiration to so many who worked with her.

When Alice lent her name to a cause, she went all-in. She was tireless – always eager to participate in, and many times lead, any discussion on the budget.

She was also a trailblazer. As the founding director of the Congressional Budget Office, her knowledge as a budget scholar is irreplaceable.

Alice took on some of the nation’s most pressing problems but was always filled with optimism and inspiration. Any meeting, project, or organization benefited greatly from having her as a part of it.

Alice’s style of leadership is exactly what the country needs right now, and we will miss her immensely.
