Watch: Medicare and Inflation

As inflation continues to surge, rising prices could have implications for the Medicare program and the health care sector more broadly. But the relationship between inflation and health care costs is hardly one way. The government currently influences the price of numerous health products and services. The Medicare program itself may therefore offer several levers for policymakers to help the Federal Reserve control rising inflation.

On July 27, 2022, the Committee hosted a virtual event to discuss the interactions between the Medicare program and inflation with a panel of policy experts. The discussion was followed by a Q&A with the audience.

Expert panel:

Moderator: Katie Martin, Health Care Cost Institute

Arnab Datta, Employ America

Matthew Fiedler, USC-Brookings Schaeffer Initiative for Health Policy

Marc Goldwein, Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget
