Note: Read the event recap blog HERE.

As the Trustees' regularly warn, Social Security and Medicare are on a path to insolvency. Policymakers should be mindful of those warnings and act to sustain these important programs sooner rather than later.

On Tuesday, April 4, 2023, the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget hosted a virtual event exploring the trust funds' status following the release of the 2023 Trustees’ annual reports. The Committee’s senior policy director Marc Goldwein began the discussion; afterward, audience members heard from a panel of policy experts on potential policy options to extend their solvency. The panelists then took questions from the audience.
