Tax Experts Urge Congress To Fix IRS Backlog And Reduce The Tax Gap
Today, a diverse group of former tax officials and policy experts sent a letter to the leadership of the Appropriations Committees urging them to provide the IRS with adequate funding to address the backlog in tax processing and improve tax compliance. Signatories included former IRS Commissioners, Assistant Treasury Secretaries for Tax Policy, Chiefs of Staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation, and other former officials and experts from across the political spectrum.
