Virtual Event: Paying for Infrastructure

America’s infrastructure may soon be getting an upgrade. The Highway Trust Fund is currently less than a year from insolvency, and policymakers are currently discussing spending $1 trillion or more to modernize infrastructure, including investments in transportation, communications, housing, water, electricity, and green technology. But how will they pay for these expenses?  

The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget hosted Paying for Infrastructure, a virtual event that explored possible revenue sources. A panel of experts discussed options ranging from vehicle miles traveled (VMT) fees to income taxes to carbon pricing.
