Graphic Design Associate
The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (Committee) is a nonpartisan, non-profit organization committed to educating the public on issues with significant fiscal policy impact. Our bipartisan leadership comprises some of the nation's leading budget experts including many past heads of the House and Senate Budget Committees, the Congressional Budget Office, the Office of Management and Budget, and the Government Accountability Office.
The Committee is seeking a talented and creative Graphic Design Associate. Working across the organization, the position will be responsible for producing a wide range of visuals including videos, social media content, annual reports, constant contact templates, as well as interactive graphics and other creative multimedia projects. The ideal candidate is a creative and collaborative visual storyteller with strong design skills. The Graphic Design Associate must be a flexible, adaptable team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable shifting between design, content creation, and collaborative support as priorities evolve.
This is a contract position which has the potential to become a salaried role after three months. Candidates must be based in the Washington, DC area and available to work in office at least two days a week.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and create high-quality graphics, infographics, videos, social media posts, event materials, and other materials that further the Committee’s work
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and quality
- Work with the Senior Staff to brainstorm and conceptualize different design and visual projects that enhance the Committee’s key messaging, work, and impact
- Maintain consistency in design and visual elements across all communication channels and materials
- Stay informed of emerging design trends and techniques to continuously improve and enhance design output
Qualifications :
deal candidates will have the following qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in visual or graphic design
- Graphic design experience in a nonprofit, policy, or advocacy setting, a plus
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Canva, or other design tools. Knowledge of web design (HTML, CSS, or web platforms like WordPress) required
- A strong portfolio demonstrating your design skills and experience in creating materials for both digital and print platforms -- Experience creating infographics and data visualizations is highly valued
- The ability to visually communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively
- Flexibility to adjust designs based on feedback and evolving project requirements
- Proven ability to work in fast-paced team environment
- An interest in advancing the Committee’s work and mission

Compensation: $27.50/hour for first three months. If offered full time position after three- month contract, the annual salary range is $60,000 to $75,000 with generous benefits package including health, dental, life and long-term disability insurance; 403(b) contribution; and paid time off.
