John Buhl Named New Director of Media Relations

For Immediate Release

John Buhl has been named the Director of Media Relations at the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. Starting today, Buhl will oversee the Committee’s communications strategy and increase the visibility of its work around the country.

Maya MacGuineas, president of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, said, “Having worked at public policy organizations, think tanks, and as a reporter, John will be a tremendous asset to the Committee. With Congress having doubled deficits over the last few years and with the start of the presidential primaries, he could not be starting at a more opportune moment to advance the cause of fiscal responsibility.”

Buhl has more than 15 years of policy and communications experience having previously worked at Silverline Communications, as Media Relations Manager at the Tax Foundation and the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, and as a researcher at the Pew Charitable Trusts. Prior to that, Buhl was a Tax Analysts reporter for six years. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh.

“The nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget’s objective analysis highlights the need for fiscal responsibility in Washington. Their mission takes on renewed importance with the deficit reaching a trillion dollars this year and the debt projected to grow this decade to nearly the size of the economy. I look forward to joining the organization and working with the media to convey the importance and urgency of this issue,” said Buhl.
