Maya MacGuineas Testifies at COVID-19 Fiscal Oversight Hearing

To ensure oversight of the trillions of dollars in economic relief authorized to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting economic downturn, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act established a committee made up of federal agency inspectors general to monitor whether funds are handled appropriately.

This group — the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee — held a public hearing on Wednesday, June 3, during which Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (Committee) president Maya MacGuineas spoke. Her testimony highlighted the work of the Committee’s COVID Money Tracker, a new initiative which is tracking every significant financial action taken by the federal government to address the pandemic. You can read MacGuineas's written testimony here.
