CRFB Publishes 9-Page Paper on President's FY 2016 Budget

With the release of the President's FY 2016 Budget yesterday, CRFB published a condensed analysis of the President's baseline and major proposals. In addition to breaking down the main policies featured in our earlier blog post, the CRFB paper compares the President's budget against a PAYGO baseline while evaluating the budget's commitment towards deficit and debt reduction.

Although we're encouraged to see that the President is following PAYGO principles, we note in our paper that the budget fails to address our nation's most pressing issue:

Failure to make our entitlement programs sustainable and put the debt on a clear downward path over the long-run will ultimately slow economic growth, increase cost of living, reduce the nation’s flexibility to address future needs, leave benefit levels of important support programs in jeopardy, and increase the ultimate risk of fiscal crisis.
